Filling in, blowing out

A few things to catch up on....

County Champs went surprisingly well. I didn't do anything notable as an individual, but we managed to win two games and finish 2nd in the table when the last day was washed out - we had a chance of being promoted if we'd won on the last day. Maybe next year. All in all, although I still don't think I'm cut out for this captaincy lark, I did alright. Beating Somerset was particularly marvellous, shame they then beat Berkshire to regain their swagger. Was nice to see Joycie finally get some runs too.

Back at work, still got nothing exciting to do. Lots of website updates, a few stinkin Active People reports and some more SFMing in the store due to another delivery. Meh...

This week I have cycled to work every day. Whilst it's only 3 miles, there are some fairly ugly hills involved, and it's quite hard work. This morning I walked quite a lot of the big hill, and I will be spared the nasty hill on the ride home today - this is because as I was turning into work after speeding down the Falmer Road, my back tyre skidded out from under me and punctured, and I think I did bloody well to hold the bike upright and not splatter myself across the road!

After recovering myself and realising the back tyre (inner tube, whatever) was blown out, I walked the rest of the way on decidedly shaky legs, whilst phoning GG to work out how to fix it. She's going to buy me a new inner tube and have a crack at repairing my bike on Friday, and I'm going to get a colleague to give me a lift home...ah, the joys of getting to work without a car!! But I've done it, I've cycled every day...yay!

So much to do!

We go away on holiday tomorrow for a week, and there's so much to do before we go, but instead....I'm surfing the internet, blogging and generally wasting time. I am so very bad.

The house is a mess, I've not packed and my bike still only has one wheel after we tried to get into town on the bus to get another inner tube (the first replacement was also punctured - how rude!), only for the bus to be late. I got fed up, suggested we go in the morning and as soon as we got back indoors, two buses went past!!! Grrrr!

I get so very annoyed at things that don't work like they're supposed to. At least I managed to get my laptop working wirelessly again after a fortnight of intermittent or no connection...hurrah!

So, I will not be blogging for at least a week, maybe slightly longer. But I may have some very silly photos to add when I come back....I know, not exactly a cliffhanger...

I'm baaaaaaaaaack!

Back at work after our holiday - which already seems like it was a very, very long time ago :-( at least my boss isn't in this week, so work has been fairly painless, even if a complete waste of time.

The holiday, Cricket Week, was lots of fun (once I'd had a talking to from GG cos I was getting all stressed). Lots of laughs, lots of cricket, not much sleep! All good. We even managed to take our bikes with us and cycle to some of the games.

I think the cycling bug has got me. Maybe it's just the cool stuff I get to spend money on, but I even beat the bastard hill this morning! C'mon! Though GG informs me it was a piric victory as the effort of getting up the hill did make me feel sick. Ah well.

So now I am attempting to find something constructive to do at work. Having spent the morning finding all the mistakes in a sponsorship pack that we had to rescue from the mailroom yesterday, we're now waiting for the marketing manager to make contact to correct all the errors before reprinting the whole bloody lot! What a waste, all because nobody thought to get it properly proof read. Think I'll have a crack at reinstalling the finance software - at least if it clogs up my computer I'll have an excuse for not doing any work!

So much stuff, so little money

My wishlist seems to be growing at an alarming rate, far outstripping my earnings! I heard something on the radio a while ago read by Terry Wogan about how you know you're over 25...one of the things was that everything you want costs between £200 and £500!! At the moment, the most pressing thing for me is the desire to install a dishwasher - the washing up is driving me nuts!

Slightly smaller things include cycling shoes (all the gear, no idea), a pick up truck (because GG doesn't trust our bike rack that goes on the car, and because it would be fun), lots of books (slightly more affordable but I really shouldn't) and lots of other little things. I know I know, material wants are not really important in the grand scheme of things, but then I don't really live in the grand scheme and don't have much influence over world events so.....I dunno!

The slightly more pressing problem is that I only have 7 players for my league match on Sunday - ridiculously, I'm coming to the conclusion that cricket should be cancelled in August because everyone goes away on holiday!! Not helped when they then get "the bends" on a scuba diving holiday and can't fly back for a couple of weeks!!! Honestly, at least my "all the gear no idea"-ness isn't life threatening!

So much to do, so little time

We've just been standing in our veg patch thinking about all the things we want to do...and realising that we have no time to do them. I keep blaming the cricket, but I'm sure it won't make that much difference - I'm sure we'll find other things to prevent us from doing all these jobs! GG and I are both thoroughly knackered and totally fed up. Which all in all doesn't make for happy bunnies (or beans). And the worst thing is not knowing what to do about it...

Me, a pessimist....never.
