Tired (not) out!

A very tiring weekend - went to a wedding Saturday in Herne Bay/Whitstable which started at lunchtime and we finally fell in to bed (a slightly chilly not particularly comfy Travelodge bed) around 2am, and then had to be up again next morning to drive to London to play cricket.

Apparently, I did quite a good job of concentrating on the cricket as I scored 127 not out in our total of 282 from 45 overs...maximum batting points! Unusually for me, I didn't offer any chances in my innings either, and I finished off on the last ball with a slightly less energetic version of Pietersen's switch hit - four through backward point with the bat turned round! It seems a consistent thing though that once I get to 70ish, I don't often get out...in the past few years I've scored 104*, 150*, 117*, 118* and yesterday's 127* (where * means not out!)

The fielding wasn't quite as exciting as we did have to field for the full 45 overs failing to bowl the oppo out, and I didn't bowl particularly well - lack of motivation perhaps. Or just plain knackered! GG was hangin all day, so we were quite glad to head for home at the end of the day, and we were asleep by 10!!

Now I'm back at work, struggling to stay awake and not really concentrating very well...ho hum!

Absence (of sense)

Apologies for the long breaks between blogs, but there's not really much going on at the moment. Well, unless you count my trip to hospital to see a dermatologist who's going to cut something out of my hand in September - it had to wait until the end of the cricket season!

Off to county championships this evening by train and then car with a mate who leaves on Friday to go and live in Kazakhstan for 2 years! I can't decide if I'm excited about county champs or not...it'll be the last one ever cos they're changing the structure, which is a bit sad. I've been going to county champs since 1994, so it'll be a disappointing change for me.

So that's tonight, away for three days, back late Thursday, back at work Friday, dinner with friends Friday night, Brighton Pride Saturday and then we go away for another week Saturday evening! So I've done two lots of packing over the weekend, which meant I didn't get as many other jobs done as I wanted. Still haven't finished the kitchen floor completely, haven't started the bathroom floor, the spare room is a mess, I started but haven't finished flooring and insulating the loft....*sigh*...so little time, so many jobs...
